Should I or Shouldn't I?

I'm still stuck without a telephone at my condo right now.  I'm at the Hanon-Allston Public Library today checking my e-mails once again.  I have switched telephone companies this week so I am glad to be rid of that annoying phone company.  My bill will be smaller than usual.  The new phone company gave me good package for local and long-distance.

Should I get a cellphone?  I have been seriously thinking about that in the past week.  I wouldn't have to use if often except for emergencies.  I feel stranded in my condo as it is.

I don't know how long it's going to take to get my phone line working again.  It's been more than a month already and February starts in a few days.

Speaking of Telephones

When the phone company finally fixes my telephone line, will they give me a mood phone just to make me happy?

Thanks, Motorola, for making the Mood Phone a winner!

Still Without A Telephone Line

I'm here at the Boston Public Library tonight checking my e-mails and checking out Charles Laquidara's Blog, the Big Mattress.  I've called the phone company twice this week about getting the line repaired.  They say that they will keep me posted.

Should I start holding my breath or start laughing out loud?

This problem has thrown everything off kilter for me this month.  Fortunately, I did attend the Boston Beanstalks annual anniversary dance back on the 14th of this month and had a good time.  I also saw the Rolling Stones the following night at the Garden, although I wish I had a better seat.  The people behind me were more concerned about drinking than seeing the Stones.  Btw, the Stones were great as usual.

Another Reason Why I love "Boston Legal"

Last Tuesday's episode of "Boston Legal" starring William Shatner and James Spader focused on a fellow employee in their law firm who has Asperger's Syndrome.  Alan Shore, James Spader's character, was defending his co-worker because he was very frustrated at his female boss, Shirley Schmidt (Candice Bergen), for passing him over again for a promotion to full partner and put a knife to her throat in the previous week's episode.  The co-worker had been with the firm for 15 years.  Other co-workers considered him as an oddball, but the truth was that he wasn't an oddball.  He was really a person with Asperger's Syndrome.

Alan talked to psychiatrists and came up a solution to keep his co-worker out of jail: Behavior therapy to learn social skills and medication to control his emotional outbursts.  I personally think it was a good storyline.  I hope they do more episodes about Asperger's Syndrome.

Still Experiencing Technical Difficulties

I'm back at the Allston Public Library once again to check on my e-mails and check on my blog.  I sure miss surfing the Internet at home.  My telephone line is still messed up.  It's a problem on the outside, but the telephone company that I am with right now hasn't been able to fix it yet.  I feel very frustrated because this gets in the way of my pursuing a career as a writer and making entries in this blog.

The library only allows up to an hour per day for using their computers.  I am only at a branch of the Boston Public Library in Allston, a neighborhood of Boston.  It doesn't give me much time to search the 'Net for articles about Asperger's Syndrome/autism and post links to them here.

I hate having technical difficulties.  I want my DSL.

More Outside Than In

Right now, I am at the Allston Public Library checking my e-mails.  The phone company has made my home phone line worse than better.  I can't even get on the Internet at home.  The line buzzes badly when I try to sign on to AOL.

I am definitely going to get DSL.  This is driving me crazy.

The Telephone Repair Man

Last Monday afternoon, the telephone repair man came by my condo to check and test my phone line.  First, we had a hard time searching for my condo's building manager who had the key to unlock the telephone room.  When I thought that Mike, the building manager, was away, I let the telephone repair man leave while I called Mike's answering machine.

I felt so relieved and surprised when Mike himself answered the phone.  I ran into the hallway and stopped the telephone repair man from leaving.  Mike unlocked the telephone room for him, and he checked the line to my condo.  A half hour later, he went back to my condo and checked my telephone jack.  Next, he went back down to the telephone room where he discovered that the problem was coming from outside the building somewhere in the street.

Now, the telephone company has to send another repair man to work on the outside line again in order to fix the bad line problem.

So here I am again waiting for the line to be fixed.  I am glad that I was able to get online tonight.  It only took about a half hour this time.  Waiting is the hardest part.

Still Experiencing Telephone Difficulties

Tonight, it took me almost two hours to get online.  The phone company still hasn't resolved the problem.  They want to come inside my condo to see if the problem can be fixed once and for all.  This problem has been getting worse every month.  My phone calls are difficult.  I can barely hear the other person at the other end.  Sometimes, there is static crackling loudly like popcorn.  Other times, there's a loud buzz that drones out the other person's voice.  Not to mention that it's hard to concentrate.

I need DSL badly.

Bo Duke (aka Superman's Dad) Promotes AS Awareness

Special thanks to Donald Kaake, a regular reader of this blog, for submitting this USA Today article about John Schneider, actor who now stars on Smallville as Jonathan Kent, Clark's Dad, and best remembered as Bo Duke on Dukes of Hazzard.  He talks about his son who was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome.

The article also features quotes from Stephen Shore of the Asperger Association of New England (AANE), an organization that is dedicated in supporting people with Asperger's Syndrome and educating the public about AS.

The Return of Charles Laquidara... Sort of!

Lucky Charles!  He now has a new gig at WBOS-FM in Boston.  He's doing an hour long show where he plays the top nine songs of a certain year.  It's amazing that he's back doing what he loves after retiring almost six years ago.

Charles' new show debuts later this month.  Stay tuned.

He Used to Work at WBCN -- Billy West!

Here's an article about a former employee of WBCN.  Billy West used to work for Charles Laquidara back in the 1980s and then started working for Howard Stern in the 1990s before achieving fame on doing the voices for the Ren & Stimpy cartoon show.

It's all here in "The Voices in His Head" from LA Weekly.

Have No Fear, David Lee Roth is Here!

Diamond Dave (aka David Lee Roth, former lead singer of Van Halen) made his debut today at WBCN-FM in Boston, replacing Howard Stern who is doing his show on Sirrius Radio starting next week.  I listened this morning when I got up and even had WBCN on in my car as I drove to work today just to hear Dave.  I enjoyed it.

Last year, David Lee Roth filled in for the morning team at WZLX-FM for a week while they were on vacation.  He was awesome.  Infinity has made the right choice.  Dave can be heard in several cities.  The Boston Globe has all the details in their article called "Roth To The Rescue."

A Curious Thing I Saw Yesterday on The Way To See King Kong...

I was walking down Brookline Avenue from Kenmore Square where I parked my car.  I was heading towards the Fenway Movie Theater and walked by a parked car that had a sign in its side window.  It said:

Imagine

- John Lennon

I don't know why it was there,  but I smiled a lot.

How I spent New Year's

I didn't do anything special on New Year's Eve because I was a little bit under the weather.  It was snowing outside.  I didn't feel like driving my Mustang out there when there's always the danger of drunk drivers roaming around on New Year's Eve.  It was also very cold, so I didn't feel like going to any of the First Night festivities.

On New Year's Day, I dug up my car and drove around a bit.  I first went to the Chestnut Hill movie theater, but I didn't want to wait three hours for the next showing of Narnia.  So, I went over to the Fenway Theatre Megaplex where they have 13  movie screens and saw KING KONG.

I really enjoyed this movie!  I am a big fan of the 1933 movie.  I don't remember the 1976 movie at all.  I know I saw it back in the day.

I actually cried at the end.  I'm such a softie!
