In Ohio, the Lawrence County Asperger's Syndrome and Autism Group will
be training emergency personnel on handling people with autism spectrum
disorders during a crisis situation. The event called "Safety Day"
will take place at the Proctorville Community Volunteer Fire
Station. The purpose is to make emergency personnel aware of how
people with autism spectrum disorders react in emergencies because of
their delicate sensitivity to sounds, smells and lights.
Sounds like a great idea.
