RIP James Brown

James Brown, the Godfather of Soul, passed away on Christmas morning.   I was surprised when I heard the news.  I had no idea he was in the hospital over the weekend with pneumonia.  He was 73 years old.  He'll be missed.  I remember his performance as a preacher in "The Blues Brothers" movie very well.  He also did the theme song to one of the "Rocky" movies back in the 1980s.

He once did a concert at the Boston Garden in 1968, the day after Martin Luther King was assasinated.  His concert eased racial tensions that were happening in the city during that time.  It was one of the most memorable performances ever at the Garden.

RIP
