According to the article called Different Genes May Cause Autism in Girls, scientists believe that girls who have autism or Asperger's Syndrome have different genes than boys. This is probably why it's hard to pin down the cause of the disorder with just one gene. At least, the scientists are working hard to find the cause so that they can do early interventions.
