A fifth grader in Tennessee named Kyle who has Asperger's Syndrome is more interested in building a super-efficient train than learning about plant cells. At the Pi Beta Phi Elementary school he attends, he is attending speech classes to aid him in understanding his peers' emotions and body language.
His older brother Michael doesn't think less of Kyle after the diagnosis. In fact, he accepts Kyle as who he is.
Kyle is coping with his diagnosis very well. His intellect has helped him qualify for the state level of the National Geographic Geography Bee. He is the only one of nine fifth graders to accomplish that.
Congrats, Kyle! And Good Luck!
