A recent large-scale study of families with autistic children discovered two genetic links that causes autism spectrum disorders to occur. They are called Chromosome 11 and Neurexin 1. These are the first results of a scan of the world’s largest collection of DNA samples from families with autistic children. The study took five years to find these two links.
1,200 families participated in this study.
