Outside In Song of the Week

October 20, 1997 was the day the plane carrying the band Lynyrd Skynyrd crashed in Gillsburg, Mississippi.  Their final album "Street Survivors" was released on October 17, 1977.  The original cover photo had the band engulfed in flames.  It was recalled and replaced with the back cover photo.  In both photos, lead singer Ronnie Van Zant is wearing a Niel Young's "Tonight's the Night" t-shirt (an album that has a theme about a rock singer's premature death).

Ronnie Van Zant was killed in the plane crash along with band members Steve Gaines and his sister Cassie Gaines.
