Jerry Garcia
Jerry would have been 66 years old on August 1, but he passed away back in 1995 a few days after his 53rd birthday. His ill health (diabetes and other ailments) caught up with him.
Back in 1987, Jerry and his band, the Grateful Dead, had a Top 10 hit. It was their biggest hit ever.
Don't forget that the Ben & Jerry's ice cream flavor, Cherry Garcia, is named after him. They created this treat just before Jerry died.
