Parents are interested in specially trained dogs for children with autism. It's been noted that children with autism bond with pets a lot easier than with peers. Of course, it depends on how the child will react to having a dog and, most importantly, interested in having a dog as a companion.
During my childhood, my family had dogs living in the house as pets. They were great friends of mine and I still miss them.
