A new study has learned that the mercury in a vaccine leaves the infant's body too quickly for it to cause any damage to the brain. Once again, there is still no proof that thimerosal, the mercury preservative in vaccines, causes autism. However, there are certain groups who keep on claiming there is a link.
The argument over thimerosal has heated up again this week when the American Academy of Pediatrics asked ABC to cancel the first episode of "Eli Stone" because a woman who has a son with autism wins a lawsuit charging that a vaccine caused the condition. ABC has refused to cancel the show and will be airing tomorrow night, January 31, at 10 p.m.
ABC plans to show the website address of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention at the end of the episode.
I'm still planning on watching "Eli Stone" because I know one of the creators of the show, Marc Guggenheim. He's a fellow member of the John Byrne Forum.
